First Day Half Day

First day of school is here. Well technically, for me, it's already finished. Although only the Year 7, 11 and 12's were the only ones at school today. Tomorrow the rest of them will be there. Sucks to be them, going to school on a Friday.

I got my timetable today. I was fairly happy with it. I've got five study periods, two of which I get to leave school if I wanted. The other three are before or after classes so I can't leave.

Homework. Well since the year coordinator and our year group spent the first period outlining the expectations, warnings and assignments of Year 11 and the second period to organise who is in which homeroom (roll call class) and getting lockers, I only had two periods. Hardly any homework but I STILL have to finish my holiday homework for Extension Maths.

I'm telling you, the lockers in my school sucks because, unlike those single, silver lockers you see in American high schools - or maybe that's just in movies, I don't know - the lockers in my school are not tall. Instead the column is divided in three and it's basically a square. It's about as deep as the length of my school bag. What sucks even MORE is that when the teacher assigned the lockers, I got a bottom locker because my name is second last in the roll.

A good thing about that though is that there is an empty locker beside mine. Me and my other friend, who is on the other side of the empty locker, are sharing it. Once we clean it up.

What Happened Yesterday?

Different countries have different celebrations and holidays for different reasons. Yesterday, the 26th of January, we celebrated Australia Day.
Here's a bit of background information.

On the 26th of January, 1788, the First Fleet, captained by Admiral Arthur Phillip, landed in Sydney Cove in New South Wales. The First Fleet was the given name of eleven ships that were sent from Britain to colonise Australia.

At first, the holiday was only celebrated in New South Wales as other states had their own "founding celebrations" with different dates and names. After over a century, in 1935, each state agreed to celebrate this special occasion on the same date however New South Wales called it Anniversary Day. In 1946 every state finally called it Australia Day. The public holiday, although celebrated on the 26th, is moved to the closest Monday to the date to create a long weekend.

So that's that. What did I do yesterday? Well I didn't really do anything special the whole day; Relaxing, watch TV and all that. We went out on an impromptu dinner though at a place called Big John's. Honestly, their serving portions are MASSIVE!!! I didn't get to take a picture of the ribs that my parents ordered because I was in awe. Seriously though, it was as big as my arm, from my elbow to finger tips.

I had veal and it was so big that I couldn't finish it. I always finish my food but that veal beat me. Partly because I didn't like the fact that it was so chewy and I had never had veal before.

Oh well, now I know not to order veal in big portions again. If it was smaller I think I would've been able to finish it. Maybe.

Curly Not So Curly

Bad news guys! My eyelash curler, Curly (Yes I named it. Don't judge), won't curl my lashes any more.  I think he's had enough of me. When I first bought him I didn't use him a lot because I hardly ever used mascara but for the past few months I've been been using mascara a lot.

R.I.P. Curly

Oh So Tired

School is starting soon and I've got most of my things ready. One more trip to the shops and I'll be ready for school. However, there are people that haven't bought any textbooks yet, my little (but not so little because he's taller than me) brother.

Most of my textbooks for this year (I have to pick up my Maths textbook from a friend).

Last year, my brother and I got an order form for textbooks for 2013 but my school had a second hand book fare. I got all of my textbooks for $5 to $25 each, as opposed to ordering and spending around $50 to $85. EACH. So I saved A LOT of money. My brother, on the other hand, decided to leave it 'til now.

So for the past couple of days, I've been busting my butt trying to find websites that sell second hand textbooks for my brother. Gosh it's so annoying because they're either not selling anywhere or it's been sold, *sad face*. PLUS! I've been trying to watch Dexter from season 1. I can't watch it in peace.

My Second-hand textbooks for 2013 :)

Sucks to be me. Oh well! I think the easiest way to get a hold of the books is just by ordering it online at another website for cheaper. Hopefully it will arrive by the start of next week!

There are a few lessons learnt from this situation:
  • Get your check list and check websites like eBay and Gumtree if anyone is selling them.

  • Buy textbooks before the sale time ends.

  • Do all your textbook shopping well before school starts.

There you go. Lesson learnt! YAAAYY!!!

Another Go.

So at the start of the year I set myself a few New Years Resolutions.

Already I have failed to follow these, which sucks because I planned to follow them for at least 2 months. So this is what I'm going to do. Instead of making drastic changes in my life at once, I will make little goals for myself everyday, whether it be to make my bed in the morning or take more time to get ready for school instead of rushing and arriving there flustered.

These little goals will help clear and relax your mind as well as body because you don't have to constantly think about things. Having a list that restricts you from doing a number of things will eventually make you go crazy as you are continuously trying to remember things that you can and can't do.

Little goals are little goals. These should not take long otherwise they would be long-term goals, and that's not what we want. For example, when I'm at school and I see that my locker is messy, my goal would be to clean it up. It's simple really. Another could be that I make my bed every morning. I could set this as my morning goal.

When you achieve your goal, reward yourself! Don't get mad at yourself if you don't achieve that goal today! Just set it as tomorrow's goal. If you achieve every goal you set for yourself, you will be happier with yourself and your days will turn out better.

So give it a go and set yourself a little goal! You never know what you can achieve in a small amount of time!

Feelin hot, hot, hot!

It was BOILING today!! 45 degrees Celsius!! And stupid me decided to go out and go buy random stuff. Big mistake. Being only 16 years old and on my L's and therefore cannot drive without a professional driver, I had to walk through heatwave after heatwave after heatwave. Smart one!

Check out my sexy bruise. I know it's hot ;)

By the time I got to the shopping centre, I was sweating from head to toe!! I felt so icky and I just wanted to take a shower. I felt my own sweat running down my back while I was walking. It was not cute at all.

You might be wondering why I went out on the hottest day of the year just to buy random stuff. Well, I got into trouble a while back and now I'm grounded for three months. Great start in 2013, right? Yeah, well anyway, I really don't like lazing around and doing nothing so I watched a DIY tutorial on how to make your own hair bows by Macbarbie07 a.k.a. Bethany. This girl is totally awesome and I love watching her videos every week.

I decided to make my own just to kill time and this is how they look! I think they're pretty awesome, especially the Batman/Joker hair bow. Totally bad ass.

Yeah... Don't mind the ruler...

2 Weeks To Go...

Oh my god! Two weeks until school starts! Where have my holidays been? There are millions of things that I have to get straight in order to be school-ready and I haven't done any of them. How am I going to live! Aaaaahhhh!!

SLEEPING PATTERS
Need I say more? I don't think sleeping past midnight and waking up at 7:30am is something I could get used to on school days. Since the start of the holidays, I have been sleeping in the "wee hours of the morning." My mum has told me off many, many times for it but I can't help it. I'm a teenager who likes to sleep, just like every other teenager. I'll try to get my sleeping patterns to be school-friendly so that I don't arrive at school looking like the dead.
I swear the school times are NOT designed for teenagers.

HOMEWORK
School hasn't even started and I already have homework! WHAT?! I know it sucks but since I'm doing Extension Maths for Year 11 and 12, I, along with the others who picked Extension Maths, have to complete a worksheet that consists of exercises on different topics. This is so that we don't waste time learning these topics and move on to more complex ones.
I'm scared to think of what my workload is going to be like when school starts... Yikes!

INTERNET/COMPUTER
Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr. Okay I admit I haven't touch my Tumblr account in a long while. This is mainly because I know that once I start reblogging and posting things, I won't be able to stop. Gosh, I've been spending so much time on the internet that I can honestly say that I have spent more time on the computer than being outside. It's not something I'm proud of, but come on! You don't get a lot of relaxing time once school starts so I say take advantage! I mean #YOLO right?? Gosh...

I know there are more things about going back to school that annoy, scare and/or excite us, but these are the main things that do it for me.

Thanks for reading!
